Rainy Day Walk
Stuck inside on another rainy day? Head outside for a rainy day walk.
We have gone for many walks after the rain. Let’s face it – splashing in puddles is one of the happiest things ever.
However, on a warmer day, sometimes it is fun to go for a walk in the rain while it is still dripping down.
If you are in a warmer climate, like we enjoyed in Mississippi, I hope you’ll jump on board the next time it drizzles.
My twins have loved this since they were toddlers and still do as first graders so this activity is fun for all ages.
Right now our kids are doing a weather project. We have been reading about storms, monitoring our rain gauge, and observing the clouds to predict future weather.
We found a warmer day with drizzles and instead of hunkering down inside we embraced our City Kids Get Outside mantra. We donned rain boots and an umbrella and headed outside.
Want to join in on the rainy day fun? Here are my top tips for fun instead of soggy tears.
4 Tips for Rainy Day Walk Fun
- Dress for the weather. We often put sweatshirts under our raincoats for a little extra warm and rain boots are a MUST!
- Talk about expectations beforehand. When do they need to hold hands? Where can they go or not go?
- Prep towels at the door before you leave.
- When you get back, dry off, shed wet clothes, and go get warm cozy ones immediately. My kids often like to take a warm bath after chilly play outside.
