Germany is one of the countries we are learning about this year and I am in full planning mode. There are so many amazing resources out there about German food and traditions and history and architecture. Below are Germany Unit ideas for ALL ages. Geography, Flag, Language and other Basic Facts
These cute printable books from 123Homeschool4Me were a nice introduction. They include another little map and some basic facts about Germany. They are simple enough for Kindergarten, but my Fourth Graders will also be using them.
There are also used these printable cards from The Wise Owl Factory to learn a few basic words in German that we tried to integrate into our days.
Architecture, Castles and Minecraft

This free printable has a nonfiction selection about the Brandenburg Gate with comprehension questions.
This MINECRAFT LAB book has lots of fun ideas that I’ve been working into our curriculum where I can. The castles lab fits well with our Germany lab. We will build castles with sugar cubes and also construct one in Minecraft.

Grimm Fairy Tales
The German Brothers Grimm, while not the authors of fairy tales, gathered a huge collection of fairy tales. Many of them are the ones that we know and love. My kids love stories of all kinds so I knew they’d enjoy diving into some of the fairy tales the Grimm brothers collected.

German Christmas Traditions
December would be a great time immerse yourself in German culture. My husband and I both grew up celebrating different aspects of German Christmases and they amassed for my kids.
